Water main valve diagram, Clifton Common
I had passed this countless times before noticing it. Like a similar one at Hill Top, Gomersal, it shows two 15 inch pipes, but in this case there is no cross-connection.

The top of Clifton Common, Clifton
At SE157232, looking south. Here the sign for the Armytage Arms is silhouetted against the late afternoon sky. Beyond the pub, Towngate is on the left, then the main A643 road descends into the valley. On the right there are council bungalows, then the first of a long series of 19C terrace houses.
