At SE157232, looking south. Here the sign for the Armytage Arms is silhouetted against the late afternoon sky. Beyond the pub, Towngate is on the left, then the main A643 road descends into the valley. On the right there are council bungalows, then the first of a long series of 19C terrace houses.
