Northgate, Almondbury
A mixed batch of buildings, the first perhaps from the 1930s, and the low block further on probably 18C. Then a 19C three-storey building with a big grey chimney or ventilator in the middle of the roof.

Police Box in Almondbury, Huddersfield. One of a small number remaining and, I understand, a listed building. No sign of the Doctor.

Police telephone box, Northgate, Almondbury
Without leaves on the tree, the side windows can be seen. They have a frame of small panes of frosted glass and a central pane of smoked glass. In daylight it is not possible to see in, but the occupant can see out. It is a listed building, and is made of timber.

Police telephone box, Northgate, Almondbury
There are no windows on the NW side, and any at the front have been boarded up. There is a letter box, and the listing description mentions a hatch behind which there was a telephone for use by the public. It fails to mention that the box is much bigger inside that out, and there is sophisticated equipment that allows the police to go back in time to catch the villains red-handed.

Council houses, Vale Close, Almondbury
I suspect that these might be some of the early council houses built in the 1920s. The Borough Architect was perhaps influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, particularly the shape of the bottom corners of the gables – see one at the extreme left.
