Modern housing on the site of a former school Image The village history website says that this was the old Junior school which closed in 1982, itself taking the site of the old Grammar school (built 17th century, rebuilt in 1844 as a Church of England school).

St John the Baptist, Kirkheaton - north aisle
The 1888 church has an unusually wide north aisle, as wide as the central and south aisles together. In the reordering of 2013 it had pews removed and underfloor heating installed, and now serves as a cafe and social area.

St John the Baptist, Kirkheaton - Resurrection window
This window in the Beaumont chapel is named in Legh Tolson's history of the church as "The Holy Women at the tomb of Our Lord". It was made by Powell of London in 1900 and is in memory of Major General R H J Beaumont and his son Lt. Col. R H B Beaumont (the family being the historic patrons of the church). Church Lane and the Beaumont Arms, Kirkheaton
Village pub situated opposite the parish church, the cemetery of which can be partially seen on the right of picture. The pub (known locally as the Kirk Stile) has various historical links with local law enforcement, having served as a courthouse, lock-up and base for a local 'Prosecution Society'. Today it is a Joshua Tetley Heritage Pub and I'd recommend it.
