Old milestone
The sad state of the last West Riding CC milestone on the road from Wakefield to Huddersfield. It is at Tandem just east of the traffic lights junction with the A639. The metal attachments were originally painted dark blue with white lettering but it is not known when black lettering on white became the norm. The backing stones were left bare but many have, over the last almost 130 years, been painted black, white or even grey.
