British Trolleybuses - Huddersfield
The terminus of service 20 (Newsome South) at Newsome Road. The trolleybuses turned by simply doing a U-turn in the junction with Caldercliff Road just behind the trolleybus. The Huddersfield trolleybus system used exclusively 3-axle vehicles in the post-war period, many of them being pre-war chassis with new bodies. Until the late 1950s, the entire network of Huddersfield Corporation's town services was run with trolleybuses. There was also a joint committee between the Council and British Railways which ran bus services to surrounding areas. The two operations were managed as a single undertaking but were legally separate entities. The scenery shows the typical stone-built houses of the area. The view is basically unchanged; even the mill chimney in the distance at Armitage Mills has survived.
