Boundary Stone, Woodfield Road, Lockwood
Just look how much the level of the footway has been raised over the years! On the left, Huddersfield Corporation; on the right South Crosland Township - an obsolete term at the time, one would have expected 'civil parish'. Lockwood joined the Borough of Huddersfield in 1868, although it continued to be a civil parish within the Borough until 1924. This part (Netherton) of South Crosland entered the Borough in 1938. The two 'B's seem to indicate 'boundary'.

Woodfield Road, B6108, Lockwood
This photograph was taken to show the position of the boundary stone Image] but includes on the right a good example of a house in the 'modern' style of the mid-20C, with its windows that go round the corners, and the simple slab projecting over the door to give shelter to callers. It has, however, a hipped roof rather than a flat one.
