Winter 1947, snowbound bus, Castle Hill, Huddersfield
This was one of three single deck buses stranded for several weeks on this stretch of Ashes Lane in the long hard winter of 1947. The last bus to be stuck had been fitted with a snowplough to try and rescue the other two. The buses belonged to Huddersfield Corporation and at least one of them was still coloured wartime grey instead of mostly red with a cream band.

Winter 1947, another snowbound bus, Castle Hill, Huddersfield
This was one of three single deck buses stranded for several weeks on this stretch of Ashes Lane in the long hard winter of 1947. The last bus to be stuck had been fitted with a snowplough to try and rescue the other two. The buses belonged to Huddersfield Corporation and at least one of them was still coloured wartime grey instead of mostly red with a cream band. This could well have been the bus fitted with the snowplough, as it was travelling away from Huddersfield, but it is not clear from the photograph.
