Newsome Church, Almondbury
St John's Church is the Newsome crossroads, where Newsome Road crosses High Lane / Jackroyd Lane. It was built after 1850, and the leanto aisle could well be early 20C. There is a large lych-gate at the crossroads.

St John the Evangelist, Newsome - Whittaker monument
The family memorial is not only one of the largest in the churchyard but also the only one in white marble. It was originally erected for early 20th century members of the family, but this side commemorates William Eric Whittaker, Mayor of Huddersfield 1971-72, who died in 1991.
