The Victoria, Jackroyd Lane, Newsome - interior
The pub was built in 1935, with an unusual V-shaped layout dictated by the angle of the road junction. Between the two wings was an octagonal 'smoke room' from which this photo was taken, though it has now been opened out to form part of the main lounge bar.

The Victoria, Jackroyd Lane, Newsome - entrance doors
The pub was built in 1935, architect Joseph Berry, for Stones brewery of Sheffield. It has an unusual V-shaped layout dictated by the angle of the road junction, with one entrance to each wing. The entrance on this side leads onto two further doors labelled 'Tap Room' and 'Out Sales'. The latter witnesses to the previously common practice of pubs selling drinks for consumption 'off the premises', a function now served by supermarkets and 'off licence' shops. The off sales bar has now become a kitchen. The form of glazing and terrazzo floor are typical details of the period.
