Originally the Lockwood Methodist Chapel of 1864, listed grade II (list entry 1313760) but since 2002 has been a Sunni mosque and Islamic educational centre.

These were often built by philanthropic millowners so that their workers could educate themselves rather than spending the evening in the pub! This one was certainly built to a high standard.

Former Lockwood Methodist Church
Dated 1864; listed Grade II. Now an Islamic centre, and captioned 'mosque' on the large-scale map, but still marked with a cross on smaller scale maps. However, if a new 'crescent moon' symbol were introduced there would be problems with synagogues, Sikh and Hindu and Buddhist temples, etc!
