Former Longroyd Bridge Bus Garage, Huddersfield
The former Huddersfield Corporation bus garage on St Thomas's Road. Built in 1921 as a tram depot. It is now occupied by The FIREDUP Group of Companies.

Fireplace World and Fired Up, Huddersfield
This is a former bus depot dating back to 1921 in the days of the trams and then the trolley buses before they were usurped by motor buses in 1968. Before the garage was built there had been a tramway power station here.

One of a series of streets serving the industrial area off St Thomas's Road. This land was developed after 1907, at which time there were allotments here. The building on the left was 'Empress Works' c.1940.

The canal behind Wickes, Longroyd Bridge, Huddersfield
This was a surprise. Entering the central area of Huddersfield we appear to be back in the countryside. The buildings on the left are hidden by trees and the River Colne is on the right, Here is a nearby view taken in 2003: Image The canal has been diverted sometime in the late 20C; old maps show it curving round to the north, closer to Manchester Road.
