Turnbridge (Locomotive Bridge), Huddersfield
This unusual vertical lift bridge dates from 1865 when it replaced an earlier swing bridge. A combination of wheels, chains and counter-weights were used to lift the deck of the bridge out of the way of passing barges. It is now electrically powered.

Huddersfield Open Market 1887-89
This magnificent edifice in iron and glass, originally housed the town's wholesale market. Currently it accommodates 'open' markets on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays.

Huddersfield’s “Stately home for trains”. The station was built between 1846-50 and is one of the finest classical stations outside of London.
