Wembley Park: View north from the station
The Metropolitan Line and Jubilee Line both have tracks here: further north a burrowing junction will take the Jubilee Line on its way to Stanmore, while the Met will continue to Harrow, Watford, Amersham and Uxbridge. In this picture, two Jubilee trains are seen, one resting in a siding and the other approaching, whilst further away a Metropolitan train is approaching.

Wembley Park station
In 1879. the Metropolitan Railway was extended from Swiss Cottage via Kilburn to Willesden Green, and in the following year on to Harrow-on-the-Hill. Wembley Park station was opened on 12th May 1894. The branch between Wembley Park and Stanmore was opened by the Metropolitan Railway on 10th December 1932. It was much harder to construct than anticipated and amongst the heavy works was the diversion of the Wealdstone Brook. It became part of the Bakerloo Line on 20th November 1939 when that line was extended from Baker Street to Finchley Road, from there taking over the Metropolitan's old slow tracks to Wembley Park before the Bakerloo continued to Stanmore. In 1979 it became part of the Jubilee Line to Charing Cross, and in 1999 was linked to Stratford by the Jubilee Line Extension. In this photograph, a Jubilee Line train for Stanmore has just left while a Jubilee Line train for Stratford on the right waits for the off.

Trains at Wembley Park
A quick pic. from the end of the platform at Wembley Park while changing trains. Metropolitan and Jubilee line trains here, as you can tell from their different shapes. For anyone not familiar with the London Underground system, in true British fashion it wasn't built with all tunnels having the same dimensions, so some lines can take larger carriages than others. Everybody knows that, I know ..... but maybe not quite everybody. Whether or not they care is something else again.
