Edgwarebury Lane
A plethora of signs - one highways agency, the others not, advertise that this is a private road. The white sign below the 15mph sign reads 'Bury Farm private road - This is a dead end road - Only vehicles for farm shop - stables and residents drive slowly'. There's also a no parking sign hiding below the blue private property sign. The road is a restricted byway and the party going the other way seem to be having a good time - especially the young lady who looks to be breaking into a dance routine :-)

Footpath Beside Edgwarebury Cemetery
Technically this is a restricted byway according to the map symbols and it does see horse traffic judging by the hoof prints on one of the muddier sections.

Field by Edgwarebury Lane
This is truly the end of the London urban area and the fields now extend to the next town, in this case Borehamwood.

Speckled Wood Butterfly
Pararge aegeria. Whilst the caterpillars feed on grass, the adult butterflies feed on the honeydew secreted by aphids. The males choose a territory where sunlight penetrates the woodland canopy and defend it from other males whilst dancing to impress passing females. This one has decided to have a rest on the path.

Horses near Bury Farm seen from Edgwarebury Lane
Edgwarebury Lane is a classic example of how the Green Belt works. It leads from Barnet Lane southwards towards either the Broadfields Estate at Edgware or the A41 at Edgware Way. It seems like real unspoilt countryside. This view is of horses in a field next to Edgwarebury Lane, while Bury Farm is on the extreme right.
