The Broadfields estate has no through routes, but is just built on the area between the A41 and the M1 with only a gated farm track leading through to Elstree for the use of the farm owners only. There is only one direct route from Edgwarebury Lane to the centre in Broadfields Avenue at the north end, otherwise you have to use these to cut through and make no false moves or you end up back where you started.

Hartland Drive, Edgware
Before the London boroughs were created in 1965 this was part of Middlesex, and whoever was responsible for the area then planted bush verges in many roads from here to the other side of Stanmore, which is now in a different borough, but these clearly were made as a local feature at the time and include the first palm trees I'd seen on a public road as opposed to someone's garden. There are also quite a few plots of bamboo further down the road which are all immaculately clipped.

Old pole with new sign, Wolmer Gardens
The striped pole is in very good condition, and the sign looks like it was only replaced recently although would need to discover for certain whether the previous one was pre-Worboys.
