Barge, Cartbridge
Two large old barges moored at Cartbridge Wharf, just north of Cartbridge itself. Barge traffic once connected Godalming and Guildford with the River Thames and London. The far bank of the River Wey Navigation here is overgrown with trees.

Send Evangelical Church
A curious little T-shaped building, with a mirror image porch on the other side as well. The OS map shows what looks like a church hall as the place of worship here, rather than this. Part is just visible on the left - it is certainly a much bigger building.

Send Evangelical Church, Broadmead Road, Send, Surrey
Located on the A247 (Broadmead Road) this used to be Cartbridge Congregational Church and dates from 1875. By the early 1970's the congregation was no more and the building became derelict. Then a group of evangelical Christians purchased the building and opened their church here on the 30th May 1974. The church though independent is a member of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). Member churches, according to the FIEC website, believe that "the Bible as originally given is in its entirety the Word of God, without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine". This is interpreted, for example, as prohibiting women being pastors and same-sex marriage. Image

Church Hall of Send Evangelical Church, Broadmead Road, Send, Surrey
The Church Hall is used by various groups from the adjacent Send Evangelical Church. The hall appears to have been built much later than the church. Image
