'Hall' 4-6-0 locomotive at Gloucester WR Locomotive Depot, 1948
Seen on a visit just after Nationalisation, No. 6927, as yet unnamed but became 'Lilford Hall' shortly afterwards, was a typical wartime product with blanked-off cab windows and no name, built 11/41 and withdrawn 10/65; GWR locomotives also had no smoke-box number-plate until after Nationalisation.

Old GWR Dean 0-6-0T at Gloucester GW Shed, 1947
View NE, to the prominent gas-holder from by the coaling stage at Gloucester (Horton Road) Shed: '850' class 0-6-0PT no. 2009 was built at Wolverhampton 4/1894 as a saddle-tank, withdrawn 1/51. Hundreds of these ancient Panniers were still at work in 1947.

Ex-GW 0-6-0 shunting at Tramway Junction, Gloucester
View westward, to Gloucester Central and South Wales, round to the left to Gloucester Eastgate and the ex-Midland line to Bristol - see also Image Shunting is Collett-design '2251' class 0-6-0 No. 2241 (built 3/45, withdrawn 2/64). Behind the train is Horton Road Locomotive Depot (with its large water-tank on the coaling stage), further back the Goods station and just visible the Central station.

Auto-fitted GW 0-4-2T at Gloucester Locomotive Depot
No. 1402 (built 8/32, No. 4802 until 11/46, withdrawn 10/56) was one of the six or so 0-4-2Ts mainly employed on the auto-trains to Chalford.

Derelict building, Gloucester
This is one visible feature of an area of dereliction north of the railway east of Gloucester station, identified by Open Street Map as Horton Road Depot, former railway land. The distant buildings and chimney to the left belong to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

A now preserved GW 2-6-2T at Gloucester Locomotive Depot with a 'Hall' 4-6-0
Collett-design '5101' class 2-6-2T No. 4141, always a Gloucester engine, was built 8/46 and withdrawn 3/63, but was preserved on the Llangollen Railway. Behind is Collett 4-6-0 No. 4952 'Peplow Hall' (built 8/29, withdrawn 9/62).
