Westerton Arms and Paterson Memorial Clock, Bridge of Allan
The pub dates from as early as 1831, possibly designed by William Stirling and is Listed Category B.
The “Dr Alexander Paterson Memorial column and Clock” was erected in 1898. Cast in the Saracen Foundry in Glasgow the design is by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, renowned for several major buildings in Glasgow in the Greek style, which is also applied here. As well as the clock, the memorial also served as a drinking fountain, a function probably not perpetuated when it was moved in 1929 to allow the main street to be widened. It is Listed Category C.

A clock and drinking fountain on Henderson Street, erected in 1898 in memory of Dr Alexander Paterson.
A plaque on the side Image reads:

ERECTED BY THE INHABITANTS OF BRIDGE OF ALLAN
AND OTHERS, IN MEMORY OF THE LATE
DR ALEXANDER PATERSON,
WHO PRACTISED IN THIS DISTRICT FOR UPWARDS OF 50 YEARS,
AND WHO WAS MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH FOR THE BURGH.
HE WAS HELD IN UNIVERSAL ESTEEM,
BEING A SKILFUL PHYSICIAN AND A KIND FRIEND.
