For most of these tower blocks the base is open around supporting pillars. Here the base has been enclosed to form a shop, and further to the left, a centre for the Cyrenians

Tower blocks at Falkirk
1960s housing on the western edge of Callendar Park. The one on the left is Maxwell Tower; the four on the right are Symon, Paterson, Marshall and Leishman Towers. The original intention was to be low-rise - the fact that much of the area was riddled with mines was overlooked, so space for building was restricted - going up was the only way to achieve the density required.

The Wall
No, not Pink Floyd! - the Antonine Wall, in Callendar Park, Falkirk - and one of the best settings for cross country anywhere in the British Isles.
Callendar House in the background - perhaps the white smoke is a surrender from the Scots as England have just soundly beaten us in an international veterans cross country? - more likely because the wind chill was well under freezing!
