Lych gate, church and chapel, Aylesbeare
See Image and Image The United Reformed Church was still operating here at the time the photo was taken; it was only recently converted into residential use. The lych gate is described at http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1141430&searchtype=mapsearch . St Mary's church, in the background, is shown in Image

The United Reformed Church
Church politics at their best or worst. In order to enter the Anglican, parish church one has to pass what at one time was the Methodist chapel. Did they get on together?

So sad
The death of a child will always have an impact on a community. The circumstances of Genette's disappearance are well documented elsewhere. Let's trust that one day she will be brought home.

St Mary's church, Aylesbeare
Seen from the east, this is "conventional East Devon perpendicular" according to Cherry & Pevsner. "The tower is the best feature of an otherwise unremarkable Perpendicular church which was heavily restored in the C19" says the listed building description http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1328734&searchtype=mapsearch . Nonetheless it is graded II*.

Thatched cottages, Aylesbeare
A severely over-exposed image, but submitted as no one else has taken this trio of listed cottages, described as a pair in the description at http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1141431&searchtype=mapsearch . Truants, formerly the larger part nearer the camera, has since been sub-divided.
