Sampford Courtenay: the village
Looking north-north-west. A recently carved memorial stone nearby states: ‘On Whit Monday 1549 Sampford Courtenay people killed a local farmer William Hellyons and then joined the Cornish in the Prayer Book Rebellion which ended in defeat by the King’s Army outside this village’.

Green Cottage, Sampford Courtenay
http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-93062-green-cottage-sampford-courtenay explains that this C18 thatched cottage was altered into two cottages and then changed back into one. Sampford Courtenay Footpath 12 passes through the gate on the right on its way to the churchyard.
