Darkes Lane, Potters Bar at dusk
This view looks along the shopping street from Byng Drive towards the station, marked by the large, pale building just left of centre. The time was around 4pm, so the light was fading, hence the car lights.

An Up ECML express approaching Potters Bar, 1948
View northward, just north of Potters Bar station: a very typical Newcastle - King's Cross express rushes past with Gresley A3 Pacific No. 44 'Melton' - not yet renumbered to 60044 as this was only six months into Nationalization; it was built 6/24 as A1 No. 2543, rebuilt to A3 9/47, surviving to 6/63.

Leighton House
Leighton House on Darkes Lane, Potters Bar, across the road from the railway station on the corner with The Walk. A small 1950s office block containing a Barclays bank, an estate agent and a care services office. Upstairs is the Leighton House Dental Practice. The oak tree dates to when Darkes Lane actually was a lane.

Bus at Potters Bar station (1)
Centrebus 381, an Optare Solo M880, makes use of the bus turning area outside Potters Bar station while working Potters Bar town service PB1. A small part of the station is visible above the bus (the railway is on an embankment at this point); the station is entered through the ground floor of the office block on the left. To the right is a supermarket, into which some shelter for waiting bus passengers is built.
