View northward, just north of Potters Bar station: a very typical Newcastle - King's Cross express rushes past with Gresley A3 Pacific No. 44 'Melton' - not yet renumbered to 60044 as this was only six months into Nationalization; it was built 6/24 as A1 No. 2543, rebuilt to A3 9/47, surviving to 6/63.
