Old Town, Peebles
So called as this was the original focus of the town before the High Street was planned. The south side shops here are (L to R) the Castle Warehouse Cookshop, McColls groceries and newsagents, then Castle Warehouse clothing and household goods shops.

Garden, Peebles Old Town
The site of the former St Andrew's church built in 1847 near the junction of Elcho Street Brae and the Old Town. A sheltered housing complex now occupies the church's location with this garden to the west.
The cannon was found in a Peebles garden and is thought to date from about 1800 for use by the Yeomanry in defence against the threat of a French invasion.
At the far end of the garden is a rockery created in 2020 by Bonnie Peebles Plus to commemorate those who died in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Greenside, Peebles
A one-way street and car park alongside the Cuddy (Eddleston Water). Just to R of Centre is the Cocoa Black coffee shop. The hillsides beyond have been whitened by recent show showers.

Original Mercat Cross plinth
The plinth that originally supported the town's 15th century Mercat Cross. It was replaced in 1965 by a smaller version to ease traffic flow at the junction of Eastgate and Northgate. It was rediscovered in a council depot in 2021 and brought here by Bonnie Peebles Plus to preserve a piece of the town's history.

Sign for the Neidpath Inn
Named after Neidpath Castle which is nearby. The castle, built in the 15th century on a hill overlooking the Tweed, was held by the Earl of Tweeddale for Charles I in the Civil War until Cromwell's artillery battered its 11ft thick walls and forced its defenders into submission. It was later restored and sold to the Queensberry family. The spendthrift 4th Duke, William Douglas Queensberry, known as 'Old Q', felled all the trees on the estate in the 18th century to raise money.
