Garden, Peebles Old Town

The site of the former St Andrew's church built in 1847 near the junction of Elcho Street Brae and the Old Town. A sheltered housing complex now occupies the church's location with this garden to the west. The cannon was found in a Peebles garden and is thought to date from about 1800 for use by the Yeomanry in defence against the threat of a French invasion. At the far end of the garden is a rockery created in 2020 by Bonnie Peebles Plus to commemorate those who died in the Covid-19 pandemic. (Information from the wall plaques nearby).
