Statue of Sir Thomas Gresham, Holborn Viaduct, EC1
The statue is on the first floor frontage of Image Sir Thomas Gresham (born Thomas Gresham Levieux c. 1519 – 21 November 1579) was an English merchant and financier who worked for King Edward VI of England and for Edward's half-sisters, Queens Mary I and Elizabeth I. Born in London and descended from an old Norfolk family, Gresham was one of two sons and two daughters of Sir Richard Gresham, a leading London merchant, who for some time held the office of Lord Mayor, and who for his services as agent of Henry VIII in negotiating loans with foreign merchants received the honour of a knighthood. Actually on the Viaduct of the A40 Holborn Viaduct, we are looking down on Farringdon Street (A201) towards Ludgate Circus and Blackfriars Bridge: it is a Saturday.

21 and 24 Holborn Viaduct
Number 24 is one of (originally) four buildings erected at each corner of Holborn Viaduct. Built in 1863-69 by William Haywood, Surveyor to the City, in an Italian gothic style. It also provides pedestrian access to Farringdon Street below. Grade II listed. The concrete block next door dates from 1972-76 and was designed by T.P. Bennett and Son.
