Myddelton Square, Finsbury, London, EC1
St Mark's Church, incorporating The London Christian Meditation Centre, is seen here from the corner of River Street and Myddelton Passage. The church's west door (its main door?) opens onto Mylne Street and a park, i.e. Myddelton Square, surrounds the church on three sides. Faced in Bath stone and rising to 30 metres (95ft), the tower is seen by many as its saving grace in what is otherwise seen as a fairly ordinary building. This Grade II-listed building was designed by W.C. Mylne and was constructed during the period 1825-7 by the New River Company. Pentonville Road lies 4-5 minutes walk ahead.

Whilst taking this photo I was mugged by squirrels who wanted food. They move too fast for a digital camera to take photos of the cute poses.

Myddelton passage - listed wall
This unassuming early 19th century brick wall on the south side of Myddelton Passage is listed grade 2 (list entry number 1298024) for the graffiti comprising initials, dates and other symbols scratched in the brick by the French prisoners (presumably from the Napoleonic wars) employed to build the wall.

St Mark's church, Islington
An early 19th century Gothic revival church, predating Pugin's work popularising the Gothic style and thus in the much more inexpert vein of 18th century Gothick. Typical Islington Regency terraces around it.
Image shows the church clearly from a mile away, the curve of the land down to the west of this site meaning that the view of the west front up this road is unobstructed.
