The chapel in the Geffrye Museum, Hoxton
The memorial is to Sir Robert Geffrye, one time merchant and Lord Mayor of London who died, aged 90, in 1703 and his wife, Percilla, who died aged 42 in 1676. He bequeathed the 14 almshouses constructed in 1715 that now house the Geffrye Museum.

The Metropolitan Hospital
The Metropolitan Hospital, 359 Kingsland Road, Dalston, E8 4DS, was a hospital from 1836 – 1977. It was founded by Joseph Fry. It opened in 1836 at 29 Carey Street, Stepney, to offer treatment to those 'whose only recommendations are poverty, destitution and disease'. Eventually, asuitable place for the new Hospital was found in 1883 and the 1.64 acre site was bought for £5,896. Hospital building being completed in 1886. Intended to serve a poor area, it suffered from a lack of funds. The word 'Free' was removed from the title. In 1902 King Edward VII became its patron. In 1948 it joined the NHS and came under the management of the Central Group. In 1966 administration was transferred to the new East London Committee. The Hospital closed in 1977, with 146 beds.
