Poplar Telephone Exchange
Located at 17 West India Dock Road E14 8EZ, this TE serves Poplar plus Canary Wharf and Limehouse nearby. It used to have EASt numbers until the late 1960s, but now has 0207-510,512,515,537,538 and 987 xxxx numbers. Mobile phone aerials can be seen on the roof of this TE.

Sail Makers & Ship Chandlers
That is the inscription on the front of this remnant from the Old Docklands.
A good word, Chandler. Someone who Chandles.
Logic suggests that there should be a verb "to chandle" but apparently not.
Shame. A good day's chandling could be quite rewarding, I imagine.
Just to check this I Googled "verb chandle" but no result.
Except I now know there is a verb "to candle" meaning to check eggs for cracks.
