Information about Limehouse Basin
The information board explains how this was originally Regent's Canal Dock - the point where the Regent's Canal entered the Thames. It goes on to state that the Regent's Canal Dock closed to shipping in 1969, and by 2001 it had been transformed into Limehouse Basin.

Limehouse Basin in 2003
This is the point where a 7-mile circular walk by members of Ashford (Kent) Ramblers along canal towpaths (Limehouse Cut, River Lee Navigation, Hertford Union Canal and Regent's Canal) ended. The group returned to Ashford in the minibus that had brought them to this point earlier in the day. Beyond the Basin are the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf.

Limehouse Basin
Limehouse Basin forms the end of the Regent's Canal and the Lee Navigation. It was formerly known as Regent's Canal Dock, handling shipping arriving via the Thames, but closed in 1969 as part of the general decline of the London docks. In 2001 it became a marina available to both canal and river craft; in this view a Docklands Light Railway train passes over the viaduct in the background.
