This is the point where a 7-mile circular walk by members of Ashford (Kent) Ramblers along canal towpaths (Limehouse Cut, River Lee Navigation, Hertford Union Canal and Regent's Canal) ended. The group returned to Ashford in the minibus that had brought them to this point earlier in the day. Beyond the Basin are the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf.
