Wordsley War Memorial (3), High Street, Wordsley, Stourbridge
The memorial is in effect in a little roundabout just off the High Street at the start of the access drive to Holy Trinity Church. Plaques record the names of all those from Wordsley who died in both World Wars. Interestingly in 2006 a further name was added, that of Private Joseph Bateman. He was shot at dawn on the 3rd December 1917 for desertion. Some years ago the government decided to grant pardons to those soldiers shot by firing squads during the war. See also:- Image and Image

Wordsley War Memorial (2) - plaque, High Street, Wordsley, Stourbridge
This plaque reads, "Erected by the people of Wordsley to honour their glorious dead who gave their lives fighting for honour truth and justice in the Great War 1914-1919. God, their King and country". Then follows the names of those who died in that war. Another plaque gives the names of those who died in the Second World War (1939-1945). Image Image

The memorial commemorates those from Wordsley who gave their lives in both World Wars. Plaques record all the names. It was unveiled on the 12th November 1921. The design was by A.T. Butler and the builders were George Brown & Sons. Image Image
