Silver Seal Garage (Corner Garage), Worcester Road, Stourport-on-Severn
This is a garage and Total filling station. It is currently one of the last two filling station in the town. A few years ago there were four, but the position is likely to change again when the new Tesco supermarket opens. The garage is often referred to as the Corner Garage and is still marked as that on maps, but its official name appears to be Silver Seal Garage.

Railway Bridge across Staffs.& Worcs. Canal
The railway bridge over the Staffs. & Worcs. Canal at SO 81737 71817 reflects the decline of both modes of transport. The canal soon fell victim to the railway, and the railway eventually fell victim to a certain Mr. Beeching. What goes round, comes round...

Brothers of Ale Taproom & Brewery (1), Baldwin Road, Stourport-on-Severn
This micro-brewery opened in the Spring of 2019. It gets its name from the fact that the business was established by two brothers. Subsequently on the 17th August 2019 a taproom was opened in the same building. It aims to sell its own range of beers (although the night I visited they had all sold out) plus other local beers. There are some tables outside as well as inside. Opening hours of the taproom are currently quite restricted but it seems very popular. Next door is a hot tub showroom. Image

Anglo House, Worcester Road, Stourport-on-Severn
This building is now known as Anglo House, but not to be confused with Old Anglo House around the corner in Mitton Street. They were both physically adjacent but there has recently been some demolition to the right of this building, presumably to create parking space. Possibly once a warehouse connected with the tin-stamping works which was in what is now called Old Anglo House. Today Anglo House has been converted and divided up into office suites.

The Steps Inn (1), 18 Gilgal, Stourport-on-Severn
This has been a public house since at least 1779, although it was built as a private residence much earlier in the 18th century. Known for a short time as The Lyon, its name was soon changed to The Red Lion. But since about 1979 it was called The Steps House, and then a couple of years or so ago the name was changed to the Steps Inn. Image As it was in early 2008:- Image

Gilgal, looking north, Stourport-on-Severn
The buildings nearest the camera date from around 1800. In the past there two or three pubs in this street but only the Steps Inn, formerly the Red Lion, remains. Gilgal now forms part of a one-way traffic system. This has encouraged some drivers to treat the street and Mitton Street, its continuation, as a race track. Only the brave and those who have no other option, walk the narrow pavements here. The photograph was taken in a rare moment when there was no vehicle in sight.
