Dorchester Skate Park Flying High
The construction of the skate park in Weymouth Avenue was only completed a few hours earlier and on a breezy Saturday morning hundreds of people came to see the park and other skaters in action for the first time (officially). To the backdrop consisting of the apartments next door to Dorchester police station, one of the more skilled skaters shows off excellent elevation in one of his jumps. The jump he is performing is one of the basic tricks known as an Indy Grab or Indy Air where the boarder grabs the edge of his board where his toes are pointing while he is in mid air.

Dorchester Skate Park
This was taken on the day that the contractors finished construction work on the new skate park which is reputed to be in the top ten in the country. No skaters have officially been allowed on but there has been much skating activity in the evenings prior to the official opening. It is located in the extreme south east corner of the square close to Maumbury Rings and with in spitting distance of the town's police station.

Signs of Prehistory
Signs on Weymouth Avenue at the Station Approach lights. Given all the redevelopment going on at the Brewery Square site opposite the Fair Field car park, signs for the amphitheatre and Maiden Castle seem a bit incongruous.

Dorchester Skate Park in the Snow
The skate park is in the south eastern corner of the square in the acute angle between Weymouth Avenue and Maumbury Rd the B3147. It was covered with snow and some youngsters were sledging in it rather than using wheels.
