Cleethorpes station concourse
The distinctive, semi open concourse at Cleethorpes station was built in about 1963, but the vivid blue paint appears to be much more recent. I cannot imagine that the ability of such a structure to provide shelter from a typically bracing day on the Lincolnshire coast is especially great. Inevitably, the building that towers over the concourse roof houses an amusement arcade.

Cleethorpes railway station, 1981
Opened in 1863 by the Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway, which had extended its line from Grimsby. View south east towards the buffers. In addition to the ubiquitous DMUs, a long rake of Mark 1 carriages is in residence.
The original station building is still extant on the right.

TransPennine Express Class 185 at Cleethorpes
Preparing to depart for Manchester Airport. It will be lightly used until Doncaster, with little to delay progress. From there it will encounter busy conflicting tracks all the way to the airport, and lots more passengers.
