Central Library, Grimsby
Quite an impressive building. Stone with a regular grid of large windows in concrete surrounds, five bronze relief figures, and a honeycomb arrangement of windows on the side. By J.M. Milner, Grimsby's Borough Architect, in 1968.
The five eleven-foot figures are known as the 'Guardians of Knowledge' and symbolically protect the new centre of learning and culture. Information from North East Lincolnshire Council.

27 Osborne Street, Grimsby
This might be the closest Grimsby got to concrete Brutalism. The oversailing upper storeys have projecting concrete beams. The panels between the concrete frame appear to be clad in glazed tiles. A faint, old sign reads 'Norwich Union House'.
