Sun Beck in spate
Some parts of Northallerton were flooded at the time of taking this photograph but the Sun Beck at least here was within its limits.

With the cemetery off to the left and the church to the right. A quaint little pub from the outside but I've never been in.

The Lodge, Northallerton Cemetery
Dating from the 1880s when the cemetery was first designated The Lodge provided accommodation for the cemetery superintendent although the current role is caretaker. The future of The Lodge is in some doubt. Maintenance is expensive and major renovation is needed but the site is on a prime site for development when it could be replaced by up to ten modern houses.

The Sun Beck
One of the few places where this beck is now exposed in the town. The beck here runs along the property boundaries on the west side of the high street. The beck is now totally enclosed along Valley Road, Bullamoor Road, Friarage Street, but is exposed through the Applegarth to where it joins the Willow Beck near Castle Hills. It used to be open along most of its length providing an interesting routeway for boys in the 1950s and 1960s.
