The White Monk Tearoom and former village school Blanchland
Grade II Listed school of 1851, probably by Samuel Sanders Teulon (1812-1873). The roof of the central cross-wing was formerly capped by a tall wooden bellcote removed in the late 1970s.

Former village school, Blanchland
This house was built in 1851 as a school. It is roughly cross-shaped in plan and had two separate entrances, one for boys and one for girls http://www.keystothepast.info/article/10339/site-Details?PRN=N8441 It is now used as the Monk Tearoom.

Former village school, Blanchland
Now in use as a tearoom and viewed here from the shade of the former abbey gatehouse. Shade required today as the temperature reached 26.5 degrees.

Old School, Blanchland
Former village school, now the White Monk tearoom, built c.1860 in free C13th style, probably by S S Teulon who was responsible for Hunstanworth, the planned village in Durham. It has one storey and an irregular cruciform plan with gabled porches and is constructed from coursed rubble with a steeply pitched green slate roof with gabled dormers.
