The Buchan
The Buchan was formerly a farm, converted to a hunting lodge by the Earl of Galloway in 1855. Later it reverted back to a farm until the 1980s.
Between the 1950s and late 1970s, the farmer at the Buchan, a Mr Alex McCutcheon, kept a pack of Ramasites. These were a cross between a labrador and a vixen, having inherited the labrador's head and the fox's tail. The pack were regularly exercised by Mrs McCutcheon who would use a hunting horn to call the pack together.
After about 1980 the farm gradually fell into a state of disrepair until it was renovated in the late 1990s, and is now holiday accommodation. But what became of the Ramasites, I have no idea.
