Laying out track
A new use for part of the old Stanton Ironworks site. The level concrete base of a demolished building makes an ideal location. By setting out the track like this, it can be accurately set up in advance, then broken down into smaller sections so that the final installation can be carried out in the shortest possible time, thus minimising disruption to train services. This could be part of the forthcoming remodelling of Nottingham Station.

Golf Club Road
With some sort of development to the right, Golf Club Road bends to the left to eventually meet the golf club which houses the Erewash Valley Golf Course.

The Seven Oaks Inn, Stanton
This pub once served the vast Stanton Ironworks site which surrounds it and its clientele would have come from the large - and no doubt very thirsty - workforce. Although parts of the old site are still in use for industrial purposes, the pub might easily have followed many of the buildings here into abandonment and dereliction. However, it seems to have reinvented itself with attractions for families and a restaurant area with a thriving Sunday lunchtime trade. It is seen here on a miserably wet Sunday.

Road through the former Stanton Ironworks
Stanton Ironworks has a long history becoming Stanton & Staveley and then part of British Steel before being acquired by the French company St Gobain. They were major employers for people from all the surrounding towns and villages and their site covered a large area. Since the demise of "Stanton" in the latter half of the last century, many of the old buildings have been demolished and some have been replaced by new ones. St Gobain still has a presence on the site but many of the remaining buildings are now occupied by smaller private companies engaged in light engineering and the like. One constant throughout all this change has been the Seven Oaks pub (on the right of the picture) but even this has undergone major refurbishment and is now also a restaurant no less!

Training Centre, Stanton Works
in its heyday, the Stanton Works covered several hundred acres and built a number of ancillary facilities in a distinctive style. These included exhibition halls, an internal fire station and this training facility.
