Holmes Chapel, St Luke's Parish Church
The Church of St Luke at Holmes Chapel is on London Road (A50). It is a Grade I listed building (English Heritage Building ID: 406436 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-406436-church-of-st-luke-holmes-chapel- British Listed Buildings).
There has been a church on the site since the 13th century but the present church dates from ca 1430 when it was erected as a timber-framed building with a Perpendicular sandstone west tower. The nave and chancel were encased in brick in the early 18th century and shortly afterwards a west gallery was installed. The Old Red Lion, Holmes Chapel
This venerable pub is now part of the Ember Inns chain but the first known mention was in a probate inventory of 1625, attached to the will of its landlord, Thomas Gandie. On this evidence it is claimed to be the oldest inn in Cheshire. John Wesley is believed to have preached here in 1738, and in 1745 some of Bonny Prince Charlie's troops were stationed here overnight. It is grade II listed.

St Luke's, Holmes Chapel - tower
The sandstone tower dates from c.1430 and contains six bells. The lozenge shaped clock dials on the north and south sides are unusual.
