The Church of St Luke at Holmes Chapel is on London Road (A50). It is a Grade I listed building (English Heritage Building ID: 406436 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-406436-church-of-st-luke-holmes-chapel- British Listed Buildings). There has been a church on the site since the 13th century but the present church dates from ca 1430 when it was erected as a timber-framed building with a Perpendicular sandstone west tower. The nave and chancel were encased in brick in the early 18th century and shortly afterwards a west gallery was installed.
