Whitemore Local Nature Reserve
From close to the bridge that crosses the Image the Biddulph Valley Way enters the Whitemore Local Nature Reserve, note the different spellings of the name- we have Higher Whitemoor Farm and a hamlet on the main road also called Whitemoor, but the woodland on the hillside near here is Whitemore Wood. The nature reserve stretches from this point to the Cheshire border, a distance of approximately one mile and is roughly 75 yards in width. It is managed by the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, for more information on what can be seen and how to access the reserve see their website at http://www.staffsmoorlands.gov.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=290&pageNumber=5 .
