Shops on Hightown, Sandbach
The short street west of the town hall carries all through traffic in the town centre (there is a bypass for longer distance traffic). Shops in this view currently comprise (from right) an estate agent, vape shop, Salvation Army charity shop, and Costa coffee.

The heart of Sandbach
This junction outside the town hall used to be very congested, but has become somewhat quieter since the bypass was constructed and High Street made one-way. It was even quieter on this occasion as through traffic was being diverted for the annual Transport Festival, allowing for an uninterrupted view of the shops on the junction - Chatwins bakers, which has expanded into the unit vacated by Welsbys
Image, William R Shoes, and between them a recently closed shop that had most recently been Badged (school uniforms).

Detail of the Swan Hotel, Sandbach
The pub is now called the Swan and Chequers
Image which may have been its historic name, but at one time it was the Swan Hotel. Stewart Green's local history page indicates it dates from 1834 or earlier, and had this name until at least the First World War. The terracotta detailing of the swan itself suggests it may have been rebuilt or at least adapted in the late 19th century when this was a popular material.

Drinking fountain, Hightown, Sandbach
The grade II listed structure (list entry 1330396) was introduced in 1897, by Thomas Bower who also designed the nearby town hall. It is now isolated on a busy roundabout and probably no longer operational anyway.
