Coventry Road, Stoneleigh
These timber-framed cottages on Coventry Road, immediately to the west of the bridge, are typical of this estate village. Prior to the dissolution of the monasteries, the area was part of the lands owned by Stoneleigh Abbey; at the dissolution the land was passed to the crown and then acquired by the Leigh family in 1561. The row of cottages dates from the mid-16th century (so must have been built at around the time of the Leigh family takeover) and are now grade II listed.
