Tile Hill Lane
Looking east towards Hearsall Common. A mix of housing to the left, oaks in the old hedgerow to the right which separates the footway from the road. Behind the trees is the Coventry Business Park, occupying the former site of the Standard-Triumph car factory and its successors. Tile Hill Lane was formerly a busy road, classified the B4101 to Knowle and Redditch, but has been superseded by the road system created for the business park. A bus lane at the junction with Fletchamstead Highway limits the traffic eastward to buses (in theory). Other vehicles can enter from the Hearsall Common end.

Herald Avenue
Visible on the left is the roof and upper parts of the Standard Triumph Recreation Club, the last remnant of the Standard Triumph factory which occupied the southern half of this square kilometre for much of the 20th century. It was usual for large factories to offer a wide range of recreational facilities for their employees and this site had sports pitches, tennis courts and a bowling green which survives in front of this building, opened in 1932. The building in the foreground was built after the factory was demolished and re-developed as Coventry Business Park in the late 20th century. Also visible on the right is the Standard Triumph monument erected as a memento.

Standard Triumph Recreation Club, Tile Hill Lane, Coventry
Coventry Business Park wraps around the club, its bowling green and car parks. The business park was built on the site of the Standard Triumph motor vehicle works, which closed in 1980 (though it was still shown on an OS map of 1992-93). The main access to the club is from Herald Avenue in the business park; there is access on foot from Tile Hill Lane.

Standard Triumph monument, Herald Ave.
The monument is adjacent to the pavement on Herald Avenue (left background) and is (to quote the plaque) "dedicated to the manufacturers and employees of Standard and Triumph motor vehicles, whose cars were built on this site from 1919-1980". A 1979 photo ( http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/214990 ) shows some of the Standard-Triumph plant buildings in the background, including the Triumph Herald assembly plant, known as the 'rocket range', built in the 1960s.
