The monument is adjacent to the pavement on Herald Avenue (left background) and is (to quote the plaque) "dedicated to the manufacturers and employees of Standard and Triumph motor vehicles, whose cars were built on this site from 1919-1980". A 1979 photo ( http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/214990 ) shows some of the Standard-Triumph plant buildings in the background, including the Triumph Herald assembly plant, known as the 'rocket range', built in the 1960s.
