Seen from the London Road at the Whitley junction, this open space looks as though it is reverting to the wild. It would be wrong to say that it has been abandoned or that it is unmanaged, without further enquiry. Vehicles at a depot are visible, top.

Footpaths to the London Road and the sports centre, Whitley
At some point the tarmac disappears under mud and the path bifurcates as two desire lines: left to an informal crossing of the A4082 London Road eastbound, and right to a tunnel under the southeast side of the junction leading to the sports centre.

Whitley Bridge
Sometimes known as Whitley Abbey Bridge (though there was never a monastery here), this bridge once carried the Coventry to London road over the River Sherbourne. It has long since been bypassed and is now blocked to motor traffic. It is Grade II listed and is dated to the 16th century by the listing at the Historic England site https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1076652?section=official-list-entry .
