Looking east at the three-arch railway viaduct on Warwick New Road
This viaduct carries the Leamington to Coventry railway line over Warwick New Road. The now-closed Warwick (Milverton) station was immediate north of the viaduct and the station entrance and booking hall were under and beside the left hand arch. Warwick (Milverton) was served by trains from Coventry and by trains on the now-dismantled line from Rugby (see below).

Conway Road, Leamington Spa
A long, pot-holed, rough-at-the-edges road that is shown on the 1886 OS map as an unnamed mews road or rear access to properties in Warwick Place (out of shot, right). Despite piecemeal residential development, telephone lines, street lighting of sorts and, presumably, other services, it remains unadopted by the highway authority: Leamington's wild west.

The railway bridge over Warwick New Road, Royal Leamington Spa
A view from the east on a sunny Easter Saturday morning. There was a bridge here in 1850 when the Rugby-Leamington branch line continued to the original Milverton station north of Rugby Road. The line was doubled, opening in 1883, so this bridge may date from then. Today it carries the busy Leamington-Coventry-Nuneaton line for local and CrossCountry services and container freight.
